Product basics
What is CaseClock?
CaseClock helps lawyers capture time faster using voice-first notes that become draft time entries you can review and send to your billing system (Clio) or manage via CSV workflows.
Is CaseClock a practice management system?
No. CaseClock is designed to work with your existing system — especially Clio — rather than replace it.
Do I have to use voice?
No. Voice is often the fastest method, but the key is that CaseClock creates a reviewable draft and you stay in control. Use voice when it's convenient; edit as needed before sending.
Does CaseClock automatically bill clients or post entries without approval?
No. CaseClock produces drafts and you review and approve before anything is sent to your system of record.
What's the smallest entry worth capturing?
Many firms bill in 0.1 increments (6 minutes). Capturing even a single 0.1 you might otherwise skip can compound over time.
How lawyers use CaseClock (workflows)
You can use CaseClock in whatever way fits your day. These are the most common patterns:
- In-the-moment capture
- End-of-day recap (batch capture)
- Drive-home / last-mile capture
- Bookmarking when interrupted
Clio integration
How does the Clio connection work?
You connect via Clio authorization. Once connected, CaseClock can pull the relevant matter and client context and support sending time entries back to Clio. See the Clio sync guide for details.
How often does CaseClock pull updates from Clio?
Sync is not instant. It runs about every ~5 minutes.
I connected Clio but I can't find a matter or client — what should I do?
Try these in order:
What about closed or older matters?
Depending on your Clio setup and the current sync scope, some closed or older matters may not show up immediately. Capture the entry anyway and update the matter later once it's available, or contact support with the matter details.
Why might hourly rates look wrong?
In Clio, rates can be set globally and sometimes overridden at the matter level. If you see a mismatch:

Non-Clio users (CSV workflows)
Can I use CaseClock without Clio?
Yes. You can capture entries in CaseClock and use CSV export and import to move them into your billing or practice management tool.
Where is the CSV guide?
I have an existing client and matter list — do I have to set it up manually?
No. Use the free CSV Normalizer to convert your existing client and matter export from any system into CaseClock's format in minutes. Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
What if my billing system needs a different CSV format?
Tell us what system you use and we'll help you map columns and provide a template. This is common and usually quick to fix — email support@caseclock.ai.
Privacy and security
Does CaseClock listen all the time?
No. CaseClock records only when you press record.
Can I review and edit before anything gets sent to Clio or exported?
Yes. Review and approval is a core part of the workflow. Nothing is submitted without your explicit action.
Where can I read the official policies?
(For specific data-handling questions, please refer to the policy pages above.)
Trial and pricing
How long is the free trial?
45 days, with no credit card required and no automatic charges.
What does it cost after the trial?
Pricing starts at $39 CAD/month (Canada) or $29 USD/month (United States) per user. Contact us for firm-wide, multi-user, or enterprise pricing — details will be presented clearly before any change in access.
Where is CaseClock currently available?
CaseClock is currently available to law firms in Canada and the United States. A United Kingdom launch is planned — UK-based firms are welcome to join our interest list.
