How to Export from MyCase

Run the Case List and Contact reports in MyCase to export your matter and client data, then upload directly to CaseClock to prepare them for import.

Part 1

Export your cases

    Log in to MyCase.

  2. 2

    Go to Reports in the main navigation.

  3. 3

    Open Case List Report.

  4. 4

    Click Customize report.

  5. 5

    Add the columns you need: case name, case number, practice area, and lead attorney are the most important.

  6. 6

    Use filters to include only active or open cases where available.

  7. 7

    Click Run report.

  8. 8

    Click More, then select Export as CSV.

  9. 9

    Save the exported file.

Part 2

Export your contacts

    Go back to Reports.

  2. 2

    Open Contact Report.

  3. 3

    Click Customize report.

  4. 4

    Add the columns you need: contact name, company name, email, and any custom client ID field your firm uses.

    Click Run report.

  6. 6

    Export the report as CSV.

  7. 7

    Save the exported file.

Full Backup alternative

MyCase also offers a Full Backup under Settings › Import/Export. This produces a ZIP file with CSV files for cases and contacts. It's useful for a complete archive but MyCase may limit this to once per day.

MyCase does not include a native client ID by default. If your firm uses a custom field for client numbers, add that column when customizing the Contact Report.
