Export instructions

  1. 1

    Log in to CosmoLex.

  2. 2

Open Matters from the left navigation.

  3. 3

Use Search or the filter controls to show the matters you want to export.

  4. 4

Filter to active matters only where available.

  5. 5

Confirm that the columns you need are visible — matter file number, matter name, client name, matter owner, and area of law are the most important.

  6. 6

Click the Export icon (the download icon in the top-right area of the Matters screen).

  7. 7

Choose Custom Export if you need more than the current page of results.

  8. 8

Keep Apply current filters selected so only your filtered matters are included.

  9. 9

Choose CSV as the export format.

  10. 10

Download the file and open it in Excel or Google Sheets to confirm the columns.

  11. 11

If the Matters CSV does not include a usable client identifier, go to Contacts in the left navigation and repeat the export process for client records.

Tip: two exports may be needed

If the Matters export doesn't include a stable client identifier, export Contacts separately. The two files can be joined in the CSV Normalizer or in Excel before importing.
